Thanks for all of the positive comments :)

Wendellt - no secret, just luck I think - there is always an angle that somehow shows the personality of the insect you are shooting .... just take plenty of shots :)

Bernie - thank you as always :)

Tim - apologies - it is Ephippitytha trigintiduoguttata :) Try saying that when you are drunk !!!!!!... and no, I didn't make it up ;)

Cheers

The bug in #1's looking at you! And the moth is unusual and so detailed, great shot and exposure's terrific... Very nice work...

Yep, I'm with all the other comments so far.....Bloomin' fantastic. Shots 1 and 3, in particular, are just exquisite. So sharp, great DOF and perfect lighting - your 'beer cup' is being used to absolute perfection.

I remember first seeing some of your early shots when we met and thinking "this woman is going to go a long way" in the field insect/critter photography. Man, was I proven right!

You have a fantastic 'eye' for photography, are as passionate as heck about wildlife (along with Damien) and you keep getting better and better.

Well done, Narelle.

Cheers

Michael

It's all been said...fantastic shots! I love the gum leaf butterfly. What is the scientific name? I love the subtle colourings. 8)

Dug, Oneputt and Nicole - thanks again :)

Definitely haven't mastered that lens, but am getting better at fluking it :) ;)

Nicole - this butterfly is "Doleschallia bisaltide" and is a male :) Has a few common names, one of which is the leafwing butterfly. This is a grab (not mine, ripped from the web) of the dorsal and ventral views of the male and female butterfly

Ahhh thanks. Was trying to find it in my book. Your photo is definitely better than the illustrations in the book.
