The shots below were all taken last Monday at Christ Church Cathedral, Newcastle. These were all shot using available light and a tripod. To see a larger version of any of these, click the image.

Nice work peter......... I think you will find that each window tells a story or part there of......... I did come across a book on stained glass windows in churches some time back, but cannot remember any other details

Peter a Big thank you from me! As you know I love stain glass windows and these are some beautiful shots. Colour and exposure are spot on!

#1 and #4 are my favourites as they concentrate on the stained glass more.

Composition on #4 is a winner, colour is spot on.

Really nice, especially the tightly framed window shots!

I wonder, though, about the oval shape visible in nos 1, 2 and 4. Is this the way the window were shaped (kind of hard to believe), or the result of (...), or - heaven forbid- my monitor...?

Cheers
Steffen.

Thank you all for your comments.

I asked the ladies manning the front door about the tripod and they said they were allowed so I went back and got mine. I wasn't going to argue.

Steffen, they look oval to me too. These were all shot up on an angle, so it's some sort of parallax error I'm guessing.

I've always loved the colored light comign through stained glass windows, these look great...

Hmm I've had an image in mind that I've wanted to create/take in an old church, this might get me motivated and off my bum!
