After seeing Phillip's bee shot yesterday I decided to give them a go too. :D
Sure enough, yesterday evening I found a few settling down for the night on some lavender stalks.

After getting absolutely hammered by mosquitos I ended up with a few shots

Enjoy...

the eye details in number 5 is great
can't help but feel that the others could do with a bit more saturation
great shots!

Probably not full frame. But not heavily cropped either.

I used a reversed lense on the front of the 105mm.

I did increase the saturation slightly. I very much against making the colors too obviously saturated.

Thanks for the comments

Very, very good photos!
What did you use for reverse? 50 f1/8?

my favourites are 3 and 5.

makes me want to go reverse my 50 in front of my 105.

what adaptor are you using to achieve this??
I have seen all manner of brutality including taping 2 like diameter lenses together.

Mother of Pearl!!
Excellent.

Macro is one area (along with many others) that I cannot compete in. My favourite is #5 - bold and beauitiful

I usually use an old minolta 55 f/1.4

One of THESE + a step ring.

Very nice GC :D I agree about the saturation though, I think that it is fine as it is.

One of THESE + a step ring.

cheap!! I should get one.
I got 2 50mm f 1.4 lenses sitting here doing nothing, when I could be out irritating the bugs in my back yard
