G'day all,

Was just playing with a couple of images from Altona Pier recently and wanted to see what you thought...

I think I should add more noise and grittiness to the BW and the color version needs something, but dunno what ... :?

Appreciate C&C... Give me your worst I can take it
EXIF for both is: 50mmF1.8@F13, ISO200, man exp 13 seconds, two shots merged in PSCS2 etc. BW was LAB lightness channel and played a little in LAB color in the coler version...

EDIT: forgot to add, co cropping etc..

the bW works well

but i like the ambience and mood of the 2nd, a lovely composed and well sought out shot, been there many times but never saw it quite like you did

Thanks, I was actually going to head out either there or somewhere like it for the sunrise tomorrow morning, so hope it's a good morning :)

Both are great - but the colour one does it for me.

The richness of the colours is sensational and it really draws you in.

just noticed a little quirky element to the composition, one of the lights are out, makes the scene look more genuine, i think this pic stands well by itself at that particular time, it's a very nice scene

I've got a few from different angles with the lights out (there's two blown globes) and wasn't sure whether it adds or detracts... Seemed to make it more "real" for me... Glad you mentioned it...

Love the b&w Mudder. How early/late were you up to get that?

6:08 but got down there about 5:15'ish, a few people around, couple were swimming... I think sunrise will be about 6:40 tomorrow so I'll try and get there by 5:30 to get that window of time "just" before sun-rise... Then have a short nap in the arvo an PP the pics... Then I gotta work (from home on the PC) late Sat night and Sunday morning so I'll be buggered then

The piers on that side are good for sunrise, I usually end up at piers on the other side for sunets like half-moon bay or something... Bit of a pier fetish at the moment

Mudder - there is no question in my mind as to which has the most mystique - colour all the way :)
