went out trying to photograph birds today.
Was at wollemi national park, where apparently the world arsehole, yodelling and noisemaking chamionships were well underway.

For some reason I had camera shake in most of the closer bird shots and they were all binned. perhaps all the people and the noise agitated me??

Saw this guy whilst I was lying on the ground. Was crawling around for a while following him.
Biggest lizard I have seen in ages. Over 4ft in the old scale. Not sure what I would have done if he had decided to run at me whilst I was on the ground.
Although a pair of kingfishers were giving him a hard time at one stage and he ran off. I couldnt get any shots of that though.

I got some full length shots of this guy. didnt really like them. not that fussed on these either but I like them more than the full length stuff.
could have done with more DOF also. light wasnt as bright as it looks though.

Nice shots Steve... well captured in its natural habitat...

Those goannas can be scary if they come for you... they often come searching for scraps at picnic sites and don't give a damn about humans or their attempts to shoo them away...

they can often have a favourite tree to which they will flee.
Can be fairly confronting if you happen to be between the lizard and the tree.
I have seen that happen a few times. a million laughs if it is someone else on the receiving end.
