Hi all, well was at my Ulysses Rally here over the weekend just taking a few pics for our branch website anhow was sitting with this old fella friday nite and took a pic of him so did some work on it and named it Like Old Oak as meaning Well Aged like Oak.

Great capture John however I think the double frame detracts from this fine image somewhat - be interested to see what others think too.

BW works well also.

Thanks Fella's. i changed the frame.


Alex i just desaturated the image them did some dodge and burn, ran it through virtual photographer and framed, nothing too fancy. Makes a change from bikes and fast moving objects.

John - MUCH better in the simplified frame - a great capture - well composed and well lit! I'm sure he'd be happy with this!

would be even better without that slight shine on the face.
but still a good shot

perhaps also have white signature also.
in keeping with the overall desaturated effect??

I find the second version a superb portrait. However, it doesn't quite match your chosen title, in that it is a bit too smooth, too gentle on the "bark" (the first version probably more so than the second). Old oak could have used a bit more contrast, IMHO.

Not sure whether that would improve the picture, though. I reckon, leave the image alone, just change the title...

Thanks All, was just trying something different and will kill the frames as was just playing around with PS last nite. I like Gary will leave it plain if i decide to print it.

I actually thought the idea of printing was to leave it unframed and then choose a suitable frame from wood/mdf or whatever it is that they make real ones from these days.

Steve i would never print this with those frames,LOL. But i do print my bike pics with black border sometimes if customer wants it and put name and other info in it.

The first pic was just stuffing around in PS with an action. When i dont put borders on my pics i have them printed with a white border about 4 or 5 mil.

Tomorrow i get back to shooting something a bit faster, have an aeroplane to take pics of doing low passes over the strip,landing and static shots for an managing director of an insurance company inwhich i have done work for before.

So the old fella couldn't run away from me and i thought it would make a good B&W shots.

I saw the bike print out with son? holding it

works then, just uses a shit load of black ink @ 20 X 30
