It just so happened I was awake for sunrise on Sat, so what better opportunity than to start snapping away when the light was good?!

Location: Prince of Wales lookout, at the end of Military Rd in Matraville.

Nice images Chi - I think the first and 2nd images are my faves.
Now the question is - how come you were up at this time? Been out all night perhaps??? Where?? :)

Thanks Geoff. The mood/scene and overall feel was reminiscent of the great sunrise meet we had at Dee Why earlier this year.

These were taken with the kit lens, I'll return on Monday and shoot the scenes with the 17-35 to see if there's a noticeable difference.

Being out all night?! I wish... ;) The area's near work, since it's 60kms from home and I can't predict traffic, some days I arrive earlier than others and have some spare time to wander the neighbourhood and shoot.

composition is very thoughtful and i must say you learned one of the best lessons that is seeking out good light no matter what the subject matter god light makes things sexy

the last one is great but i think you lost the gorgeous light

Thanks Wendell. The last one was shot in the middle of the day (2pm), hence the flat lighting and needed judicious use of contrast enhancement. Much like the following, of the rocks near Bare Island at La Perouse overlooking the airport runway.

If I had 1000mm or so of reach, I might have been able to capture some landing planes.
