Taken on Granite Island, SA near sunset. Wind from the south was sure cooling things down quickly.

Gorgeous image Mark. You've done well to get some light in the foreground too, as it looks to me like you shot in to the sun. Very well done.

I like this.
I get the feeling of the scene rushing towards me.
Is this a single exposure with fill on the foreground?
looks to be shot into the sun

this is a great scene and capture
the whole scene looks dramatic but tranquill almost liek a dreamscape, i think the clouds and fluffy bits on the ground make this so.
The pastel tones are gorgeous too, that is one place i will definitely have to visit

Lovely photo Mark. I'd like to know how you filled the foreground - it's a beautifully exposed image. Perhaps you could consider cropping a bit tighter on the RHS of the image to remove the rock sitting above the horizon in the corner - I find it a bit distracting personally.

I love this image sooo much i just needed to sexify it a little bit, can't help myself. Increased midtones to yellow+red shadow tones more cyan, highlights yellow
this place would be ideal for a fashion shoot

Thanks folks.
Avkomp and ABG, it is 2 images at completely different exposures (one for the sky and one for the foreground) . Copied over each other. Removed the bits I didn't want and presto. A little Velvia Vision and that was it
Like the colour in your version Wendell.

big pix,
I have been meaning to ask this every time I see it mentioned, but how does one have a play in lab colour
mode??
I know how to convert to lab colour
mode, but then what?? is it a case of curves etc??
Perhaps you could step thru a typical workflow PPing in lab
mode??

Nice to see a photo from close to home. My grandparents live in Victor Harbour (affectionately known as "God's waiting room"!!) and Granite Island brings back great memories.
Did you see any penguins?! And how nostalgic is the Clydesdale drawn cart that ferries people across to the island?

Liam,
I saw a few penguins but the rangers were very "iffy" about using flash so no pics as they all came in well after dark.
Got a shot of the Clydesdales with a Wedding Party in tow but have put it on a different thread. (More from SA)

Nicely framed, good placement of the highlights of the sky over the rock to define the edge.
Good foreground detail, maybe just a smidge more sat and pop to the colors in the foreground, half-way between the orig and BP's I reckon...
Tempted to either crop or clone out the beginnings of another rock intruding on the edge of the RHS.
