Hi

We have decided on these two but really can't choose between them. Laura is a dancer(contemporary) she needs a portrait to give her agent so she can get more work in the drama/theatre industry. Right now she does more commercial dance projects.
personally i like the first one because it's got a lot of fashionable commercial appeal, but the 2nd looks more like a classic portrait.

I saved them big because sometimes the little details make the image

note i like the picture of the week one for my portfolio but these 2 have that commercial appeal to them that her agent is looking for.

First shot is nice but unfortunately her right eye is a bit out of focus.

Second shot is stunning and will definitely be a winner as a porfolio shot. The model's eyes and lips just sparkle and you have captured a beautiful mood/feel.

Wendell - the first shot is beautiful and you have captured everything perfectly - to be really honest this photo far surpasses your POTW

Definately the first one. It has that classic Hollywood style to it, very attractive and appealing image.

I like #1.

The hair frames the face beautifully, and I like the alluring sideways glance. Definitely got "it".

#2 is good, but something's not quite right. Maybe its the deep shadow on her neck?

the first one for me.

reminds me a lot of a woman in a shampoo commercial.

I'm with Chris in both regards.

They are both terrific, masterful portraits wendell. Having said that the first appears more alluring in that it is more suggestive, leaves more to the imagination and hints at an element of intrigue for the viewer in the aspect you've chosen. To put it bluntly a hell of a lot more sexy

she looks better in the first one ... just a hint of cheekyness

Both are great photos, but the first one looks more spontaneous, almost as though she's turning around & does't know you're there with a camera. The second one is good too, but looks a little more contrived.

You are really showing your skill with these, both of these are excellent, but have different sort of market appeal...

The first seems more of a cheeky, alluring appeal that might catch the male eye quicker than the second...

The second seems to have a more natural, "innocent" candid smile...

Again, these are top portrait images, well done...

From a woman's point of view, I would go with the first image. Her hair is just gorgeous, and in the second image I feel it is just a little too harsh looking pulled away from her face.

Excellent images though, Wendell, and I loved the whole series you put together....just magic, keep it up, you are an inspiration!

I think they're quality images.

The second is better as her right eye in the first portrait looks a little too large and out of focus.

How does they look in sepia tonings? To me the shots have a classic 50's or '60s feel to them and sepia may add to the overall presentation. Although I'm sure the casting agents only want b/w or colour.

Second image does it for me, mainy due to the eyes.
The slight OOF eye in the first weakens the shot, where as in the second the model is just that extra bit engaging.

Tony sepia tone would make these look more retro and would sit well
but i would point out even though the lighting is reminiscent of that time her hair styling and expression in the first is quite contemporary, I played around with her hair to get that modern look. The sepia would fit the 2nd one which is more of a classic portrait, regarding the shallow depth of field of f2 it may have made the 1st a little strange but i wanted to knock back the hair give more emphasis to the eyebrow ridge, the DOF is just more prominent because of the 1/4 profile angle that the 1st one was shot at.

I think it's safe to say the 1st one is the one.

one reason why i converted them to black and white is because the colour tone was quite harsh with the use of the sb800 greyscale treatment seems to clean up the tone looks cleaner too, some agents like B+W becuase you just concentrate on the form of the potential of the face rather than the emotional bias colour provides. there is always a description next to the pic to describe eye colour etc.
