A bird and a cat

Decided to harrass the animals at Taronga Zoo for the second weekend in a row (but I might stop for a little while, now!).

For this one, I decided a bit of cropping was required. Just to remove some of the more superfluous (beige sand) background that would otherwise have distracted from the rainbow and black colouring.

A bit of a shame about the foreground vegetation in this one, but it is the cleanest shot I took of these big cats (and I like to think the green adds a certain something. It certainly adds a certain grass if nothing else!)

Wow, the color and lines in the first are stunning and the spot of light on the forehead of the bird is great, this is excellent... :D

The cat shot has great clear eye detail, which really makes or breaks portrait types of animal stuff, the foreground greenery may be distracting but could actually add a feeling of peering through the bush... The only give-away is the bed he's lying on...

Zoos are great places to spend a day, and Taronga seems like a really good zoo...

Both of those images are very well created and the first one especially is very innovative. Great use of DOF and colour. Amazing bird. The tiger is cool.

Love the sharp beak in the first pic & the the DOF is great, although I'm fining it difficult to reconcile the black head to the amazing colour in the background (which might just be more about me still being at work). The tiger is fantastic - the grass in the foreground add to the pic. It looks like you've snuck up on it & are peeking through the grass...
