the painterly effect works best on the darker tones of the image, overall the expressionist brush stroke gives a new insight into this very familiar australian landscape, but it's quite interesting though the expressionists who pioneered this technique used it on european landscapes, here it is used on a desert scene, half way around the world over a hundred years later, this gives your work that contemporary context.

did you take the original picture?

I don't think i will chop any body parts off just yet. Maybe clip my toenails ;)

Wendell, i did take the original image but it was boring so i did this to it. It was taken before the public gallery at Uluru was made and tourists were forced to use it. I had free range of the park in those days and could take a photo wherever i wanted. I will post more as i get through my negatives. Only 10,000 more to go.

Oh and i must thank Shiela Smart for the idea of the impressionist filter. :)

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but this image made me laugh, because I think it's how Ayer's Rock would look on The Simpsons! :shock: :shock: Must be the clouds....
