Very good
There's a pair of gym shoes hanging similarly off some overhead wires near Hornsby railway station. (It could be the work of some kind travelling weirdo... or is it a copycat thing? Do runners make a different statement?)

What makes this shot so good, other than the subject, is the beautiful lighting on the shoes - right place, right time

I was talking to my sister last week on this subject. Apparently runners do make a difference... if you are in the US and a gang member. Something about shoes and status, and how a members shoes get hung from the wire when that member dies. I cannot remember the full details, but it was an interesting subject.
She wants my D70 to take these sorts of shots for a thing that she is doing at uni on this subject.
Cheers

It is amazing how the right light and the right eye can make something ordinary look great, but I suppose the right eye has to see the right light first.
Great shot.

Well spotted. Lovely tones & contrast in this image. I also like the way you have cropped it.

I like the shot, but even more interest in the I use the term loosely mythology behind the sneakers/runners/shoes on the wires. I don't the movie well, but didn't it also feature in Reality Bites ?

When I was younger and expensive runners had just come out (in contrast to the then ubiquitous Dunlop Volleys) some of the guys I knew threw one of the other guys new expensive Nikes or similar over the lines. We all laughed and he had to walk home barefoot (I am sure his parents didn't laugh) . It had nothing to do with crack houses then, more a way of saying don't be a wanker with flash shoes. Crack wasn't even invented when I was young.
