For some silly reason, I decided to get up stupidly early this morning and headed into work early, so I could spend some time along the Yarra taking some sunrise photos.

Here are a few of what I took:

1. Looking back at the city

2. Birrarung Marr Walkway

3. Commonwealth Games Fish

4. Fish along the Yarra

5. Old & New

6. Tall Buildings

7. Sunrise over the MCG

C&C welcomed... :)

You weren't kidding when you said early. It was still dark!

The last image of the MCG light towers and supports against the orange sky is the winner in my opinion. A unique and very eye catching capture of an iconic Aussie sporting ground.

Some nice images, my pic is the last one. Very iconic and just love the sunrise colours and silheoutte!
I also really like the first shot and #5 Old and New.

These are MORNING shots? That is early :)

I like the series - Melbourne waking up. The sunrise over the MCG is the pick.

I definately like the last but I'd crop a small section of space off the edge. About half of the distance between the edge now and the last pole.

Thanks for your comments everyone, they are appreciated.

I also really like the MCG shot. There were 3 hot air balloons above the MCG at the time as well, but I havent had a chance to PP those one's yet. I'm hoping they'll turn out as good.

Kipper - I agree with your advice re: the crop. I had first thought the same thing, however when I came back later to PP the image, I completely overlooked it.

If the balloon pics turn out, I will be sure to post them.....:)

Totally agree, and I love the balance of subject to empty space. I see a lot of shots which want to crop the frame so tightly that the subject is 'all up in your face', but so many times that removes the subject from its context to the point that it actually becomes lost.
