I was looking for stuff to shoot the other night. I found this stump that some people decided to upturn. It feels like such a strange photo, the tones came out really well.

Nice contract in this pic - it sets a great mood. Are they lights in the background to the left of the tree? I'd prolly clone them out, but it's a great shot nonetheless

Love it, its very odd, at first there is a sense it being small scale, (like a close up) but then it reveals itself to be much bigger then first anticipated.
Love the tones, I'd agree with Craig the lights don't enhance the shot for me.

I love the lighting in this photo it gives a great effect almost as if a storm was rolling in. that appears to be quite a large stump to overturn or maybe its just the perspective the lens gives it.

I suppose those lights are a bit of a niggle. I cloned out some ship lights on the right side already, and didn't mind the city lights at the time, but I see your point now. Thanks for the comments all.

If you could revisit it and its still standing I think it would be interesting to 'light paint' it a little and see what sort of effecting bring it out from the rest of the shot would do. Probably not pratical, but definitely something I'd try.

Dooda, how did you go with your non combustable, disposable light source for that rickety shack on the water ?

Thanks for asking. I haven't made it back yet. I think I'll wait for another bright moon, as it adds a certain something to the sky. I figure I've caught some really decent ones as it is, I don't want to waste time going back until everything is just right.
