Very cool Mr Cardigan!
DOF is a little mixed but I like all of these. The last Robber Fly (I think) shot is really nice! Simon

very good series with 150,all images are realy sharp and good DOF but as flash light gets harsh "i alywas disliked flash photograpyh"" so try to shot in natural light even it gona be dificult but you can yeald a lot better natural results.

Wonderful captures here, my backyard is fine except you need a boat at the moment to get around it!

Thanks for all the comments.
I consider a flash essential for handheld insect shots. Especially insects that are continually moving. Usually there is no time to set up a tripod.
Greenie,
Insect photography isn't the easiest at the best of times and you have captured these really well. Great sharpness and some interesting composition. I agree with you that you have to use flash, especially when you are "following" your subjects and can't use a tripod. Have you tried using a diffuser on your flash to soften harsh light? Nice work Cheers Michael
Not really. Occasionally I use a homemade diffuser. A new flash + diffuser is high up on my 'to buy' list though.
