Hi All, well a busy weekend for me as usual starting Saturday nite with speedway and then today with Autocross (rally cars) and then Moto X, ok no pics of the rally cars was a come and try day so not that great.
here are a some of the other events all taken with D2x and Sigma 70-200 lens. I find that when i shoot in jpg with D2X i dial in EV +0.3 and no adjusting later as if i dont i find i have to adjust each picture a bit. 2 pics done with D70 and kits lens.
Cheers

Great pics!
I like #4, and the last one, both nice bike action pics... Are they all pretty tight crops? How far away were you standing?

As always stunning photo's of motorsports, I like all of these shots and would one day hope to acheive the same results

My first few attempts have been less than successful
Number #1 is a ripper, the slightly blured background and blured wheels hints at the speed these guys travel at. I like the low angle of the static shots in #2 & #3.
So did you get cleaned up by by the bike in #7 ? I'm wondering how you went keeping your equipment clean with the dirt & dust. He must have only missed you by a narrow margin. I guess you were ready for "exit... stage right".
/M.

Some great shots John. The last one is a rippa, at first I thought he was looking at you, but at close inspection he's eyes are fixed on the road.

great shots, as others have stated last one is the pick of the bunch.
Just hope that's dirt specs & not dust bunnies in the sky

Great shots. Framed up really well with no crops. How do you consistently produce such quality? Talent and experience i bet.

Thanks Guys, well some answer's i did not get cleaned up as i tent to really choose where to stand but in doing this i always shoot with both eyes open so as to watch what is going on out of the veiw finder.
The D2x even had a slight bath as i went a bit to close to a sprinkler at Moto X and it got a bit wet but dried it off rather quichk and i think it liked it having a clean. I always look after my gear and keep it clean but in situations like this it cant be helped and it gets dusty which i carry a lens cloth and give it a wipe over now and then and a blow etc.. then when i get back to the car i carry a fine art brush and give it a good brush over before i pull the lens off and put away. I find the lcd is a strange seup on the D2x it has it sides open so dust can get on the inside on the plastic screen so have to take that off often to clean.
I took a lot of shots yesterday as usual so these were just a few and also had to do some sponsor pics for a team sponsored bike after Moto X so long day and late nites over the weekend.
Another big weekend as i have Road Racing so 3 days of it again lots of work to do this weekend.

Agreed, I love these. A bit different from your usual stuff John, the flash works wonders and is 'just right'. Top notch!

Great stuff Johnny!! Haven't been on for a while so had to post here. I really like the perspective you put on the cars and top quality images of the bikes too. Nice and sharp!
Just wondering John if for action shots, is it better to shoot in JPEG or RAW. Which do you prefer? Thanks matey!

As always, super shots!
Loving the one of the yellow sprint car, nice and sharp and great angle. Were you laying down for this one or do you have one of those weird view finder attatchment things?
BTW, welcome back Jase....i was wondering where you had gotten to.

Hi Jamie, yes I've been farely busy these days, but popped my head in to say hello. Oh, damn I forgot to mention I went to Phillip Island to see the Superbikes. Sorry, mate I should have given you a call or something to see if you were interested in coming along to take pic's. See what happens when you stay away from the forum too long. Next time buddy, I promise.

Jase, mate i have to shoot in jpg
mode on the D2x as you know what i am like trigger happy and at 19+meg RAW file on d2x is not a lot of pics so i shoot in jpg on d2x unless i know i am only going to take a few pics for a differant job and i still use D70 in RAW
mode for most of my static shots now days. Good to hear from you as well mate, u got email too.
Cheers
John

Jamie, i dont have freaky attachments for my camera so i dont lay down as well only when i got to bed, but what i did was just hold the camera down near the ground pointing at the subject and bingo, thats the pic so nothing special. Used the D70 and kit lens 18-70 as it is the widest lens i have and and was late afternoon so all worked out nice.
Cheers
