Hi all,

This is the first time ive had a chance to have a play with the SB-600 (thanks Briddog) and well to be honest any kind of flash photography really. I have a weeding coming up this weekend so i thought id better go out and practice a little.

Ive also been having a few problems with CS2 and monitor colour profiles so i dont know if these are going to look real great on other monitors.

Feel free to comment if you wish.

Jamie,

The last two, and especially the very last are superb.

Nice shots Jamie. Like #2, looks like a cousin of mine. :) The flash really lifts the subjects from the background, colours are fine on my monitor (LCD).

Bugger, beaten to the weeding joke!

I like no.3 - looks like you've scared the crap out of that tiger with your flash!!

Nice work..

These are really impressive.
Especially considering that most people use a camera to take images. :D

Jamie... your use of the flash is looking fine... suggest you have a look at your postprocessing on #3 though... somewhat oversharpened and looks like the tiger is a cardboard cutout !!!

Mj- thanks. I don’t know how you could pick #3 as being over sharpened and not any of the others. I always sharpen all my images exactly the same – USM, 0.7 radius @ 40%. I’m a Photoshop spaz so I don’t tend to play around with settings to much.

Perhaps it has something to do with the DOF of the picture compared with the others, I know exactly what you mean though, it doesn’t look quite right. :?

Obzelite - I haven’t owned the flash very long but I'm very happy with the way it performs so far, would highly recommend.

not sure why, but I cannot see your pics (can only see the little red x's).

However, I am a strong advocate for the Nikon Speedlights, so I have no doubt that you are producing some fine images with it :)
