Nostalgia!
Here's an image that's 20 years old. It was taken in March 1986 inside the Athens Museum, Greece.

It is a candid shot, not posed. I saw this artist drawing one of the statues on display and took my pic. It was originally a Kodachrome transparency, digitised a few years ago.

It is sometimes interesting to look at older images to see if there is anything you could do better.

Things I would do differently now:
- clone out the artist's bag at the bottom (I didn't have Photoshop in those days )
- use a lower angle to isolate the artist and the statue from the crowd.

Gee that came out well Trevor! I agree wholeheartedly about the treatment you'd give it if you shot it today but it's a lovely image all the same. I wonder where the artist is now? Nice story - thanks for posting!

Thanks Simon. We are going to Greece again in May (for a wedding - should be a hoot!) so I was just going through my old images of when I was last there. Wonderful memories.

Certainly. But I despair that the romance of sifting through a box of old prints or leafing through a dog-eared album you found in the attic is to be forever relegated to history in this digital age.

Simon:Yup, I agree. There's still lots of fun sifting through those old pix.

By the way, I forgot to mention that the statue the artist is drawing is "The Little Jockey", a bronze statue thought to be 2000 years old. It was found underwater in pieces and restored.

Great history lesson Trev. I wonder if he was riding the ancient equivalent of "Fine Cotton" ?
