Probably done to death as photographic topic, but heres a few more. Taken on the way home this evening.

I've given a couple of them the B&W treatment. The coloured one is a jpg straight from the D50 in "saturated sRGB Mode IIIa"

i think i saw this monument when i was on my way to government house is it in the parklands next to the yarra river?

the first pic has a certain stillness to it the scene looks surreal for some reason which is very appealing only comment woudl be to have shot it at a different angle so the bench does not intersect the monument have those two contrasting each other with ample space around each, that woudl have made the shot

Nice pics mate. You really know how to make that D50 sing :)

Second pic is my fave - love the composition and b&w treatment. Makes the lion really look like its looking over its domain.

Great work pharmer, you do have great skills with the D50. My pick is the 2nd shot, followed by the first :) Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Craig & Piro. The D50 is nice, wouldn't swap it for a D70s - it just wouldn't be an upgrade :-)

But I made the mistake of playing around with a D200 in a shop and now guess what I want?

Those are very worthy photos, which do great justice to a very worthy monument. I'm embarrassed to post mine now.

I wish I had taken better advantage of my seven years in Melbourne to get some good shots of the Shrine.

All three are quite good. The first one the condensed and flattened perspective create a bit of a cluttered effect, as they appear to battle for the same area. If there was some exaggerated distance between the two, I think it would be a little better. Or the angle like Wendell was saying.

Yeah - I should have taken more time with the first.

There were people on either side of the frame, thats why I didn't move around to the left and create more space between the seat and the monument.

My widest is the 18mm (27mm real) - little restricting at times in terms of creating visual space

Dooda - bet you're loving the 10-20 :-)
