Works for me. Both are nice images. I would prefer to see more contrast in the B&W one though, but that's my preference.

I'm 100% in agreement with Steve. Both images are good, but definitely more stark blacks & whites in the first one.

A bit more contrast.
And in colour.

The higer contrast B&W works well, but I really like the shaft of light.

I really love the 'idea' of the shaft of light... but think it's needs some artsy 'oomph' and contrast in my opinion. play with it pp wise and i think you'll find 1001 variations that a pleasing.
Here's my take on the shot. Yell at me if you want me to remove it.
cheers

I think MArks version seems good. It gives the shot more "depth" as an image.
As for the basket, It I'd like to see the whole basket in focus, it hurts my eyes with the top blury. The idea is great though.
Just my 2cents
I can see the boards oin the wall in somesort of series..

That is excellent work Mark. I thought my image was a bit flat and your PP certainly gives it more punch and interest.
I'm going to play with photoshop and see what I can manage. I've still got my Photoshop training wheels on.
I might try and do the basket thing again with in focus. I just need a sunny day and a basket.

I used the curves to just give the shadows a bit more depth. I didn't know there was a LAB
mode.
