The 180mm f2.8 is quite an amazing lens.

This lens is quite cheap now. You can get them for around $400. Amazing bokeh.

Excellent shots, but in the first one there is a little bit of sunglasses. Dunno if its intensional.

Very nice Andrew

I am interested in the lens too.... currently I am using the 70-200VR find it too heavy  I prefer the primes...

Padey,
It's the lens which stays in my bag more frequently than the 70-200VR.
I love the sharpness and its bokeh, you have done a great job with this Nikon gem.
Yes, I do shoot with prime more than zoom, why?
Compact, light, solid build and tack sharp.

Thanks for sharing.

Padey,
To be honest, where did you buy it for $400.00 new?
eBay? online store? or back of the truck ?

I want another two

Of all places, I picked up my second hand example for $400AUD at a camera market in LA. There was also a pristine 58mm f1.2 Noct Nikkor going for about $1kUSD too. Very very nice piece of glass....

The only let down with the 180 is the AF speed. Really slow, even on the D2x. Maybe that's the reason for the 200mm f2?

hmmm, well there is a marked difference in size and weight of the F2 200mm as opposed to the 180mm 2.8

The 180 is a very sharp lens, Birddog allowed me to use his once and I agree is light in weight with tack sharp results. I was in very bright light so didn't notice the AF speed on my D2x

All great images, very good composition, especially like the last one, you have given me some good ideas here. If I can get 1/2 as good as these I will be happy indeed!
