John (Oneputt) kindly loaned me his d2x for a couple of days so i can get a feel of the camera... my folks have offered to help me with my photography pursuit by wanting to sell a Vassilieff painting that they have and putting the proceeds towards a new camera (d2x or d200) so I asked John if i could borrow his camera one afternoon so i can get a feel for it...but instead he said i could borrow it for a couple of days.. I must say Iam extremely impressed with it.. ive only had time to take a few photos and will explore tomorrow with it a bit more.. the speed is insane... it freaks me out.. but feels super comfy in my hands.. and i actually like the weight of the beast... Anyways... quick attempt with the macro lens this afternoon with it.. pretty sure its a Robber Fly..

wish my folks were that comitted to helping me with my photogrpahy Your right about the speed of the thing..... and the shutter has such a fast, metalic sound compared with my d70s.....

I'm kinda glad I don't have the oppertunity to touch a D2X!! I somehow don't think I'd settle for anything less... and my bank account won't allow for that....

... But if my parents want to sell THEIR house so I can get a D2X... that would be cool.

Great shot, terrific detail and I like the subdued toning (which I assume is due to the highlights in the metal?)...

Handling stuff like a D2X is addictive like drugs, just more expensive...

How generous of John to lend you his for a couple of days, wonderful chance to have a play in your own time. Not the same at a shop.

Beautiful work, as usual Tim.

The best of tools are only at their best in the hands of a skilled operator and you do this piece of kit proud. John's an excellent judge of both character and talent and you score highly on both counts.

An excellent shot - yes it is a Robber Fly. How cool are they? And quick too; they catch other flies in the air, impaling them with those nasty spines on their legs.
