A couple of images from my recent trip to Newcastle. I'm starting to really take to the place... maybe a move on the cards.

I like the composition of number 3.

It looks like a trip to Newcastle is on the cards for me soon.

#1 would be my favourite - just love the colours in the water. I would prefer to see it as a tighter crop with less sky.

Daniel I like the two of the Bogey Hole and would be happy to play tour guide any time. PS If you want to see a predawn pic of the Bogey Hole there's an excellent one from Andre here

Don't the polariser's make water look good huh... The color and texture in #2 is great, and you're right, there'd be some great angles down there in pre dawn light...

Radar, the shot Peter referred to is oooh la la...

That is actually pre-dusk, but who is being pedantic :wink:

The two Bogey Hole photos are great. I was there this afternoon hoping to get something along those, but the light just wasn't right, a bit too late. I got some good shots of some hang gliders, which I should post tomorrow.

The last one doesn't do much for me, I'm afraid. As JordanP says, cropping a bit of the sky out of that first one, would make it a great shot, lovely colours on the water.

As Peter mentions, let us know if you want some company next time you feel like taking some photos around Newcastle, I'm interested. That goes for any forum visitors, we don't bite, but my dogs may, NOT :wink:

Curly - mmm, I dunno... I check my posts with pictures in another browser that isn't logged into my flickr account or the forums and it seems to work ok. I'll update my signature so that it has my flickr address in there.

Peter/André/Andrew... maybe we should organise a meet in Newcastle sometime?

Mudder: My standard kit goes something like D70, 18-70 DX, CPL ... everything else is optional. The CPL is a must have when near water, and I love the 18-70.

André, I'm still unsure about the last one as well. I just snapped it off while laying on the grass in the park, one handed not looking through the viewfinder and guessing. I thought "cool, like the monocromatic look, not so much the subject". BTW, the Bogey hole pic Stubbsy linked to is fantastic. I'm now inspired to capture my own version next time I visit.

Yes, Easter Holiday is great time for outing and doing lot of stuff around Newcastle and its region.

Honestly I'd suggest Easter is bad since there will be VERY heavy traffic leaving Sydney and heading North at the start and vice versa at the end. This will make for a MUCH longer drive.

Not really! if you planned ahead then everything will be fine!

I'm up and down that F3 FW nearly everyweek or twice a week, including holidays or long WE, but so far only took me 2.10 min to BH or 1.1/2 hrs to Newcastle.
