Didn't get to make the Buderim M&G (bloody cold), but got a quick shot of a double bar finch in the front yard..... these little guys are feeding on the seeding grasses, and habitually land on the 'lacework' on our front gate, framed by the ironwork.

I like it Rel, but I did a quick hand to the LCD, and I think I'd prefer a portrait crop of just the LHS.

A great view of an everyday thing we walk past and don't notice, great framing...

Thanks Craig, Matt & Andrew :)
They are really cool birds huh? Craig - agreed on the cropping, but really wanted to show the symmetry of the gate ..... but you are right.
Here's another shot on the top of the ironwork

Oops - thanks Steve - didn't see your post - we posted at exactly the same time :) I've been pretty lucky with these guys, they are getting so used to me coming out to see them, they pretty much ignore me unless I get toooooo close. I put a bag down at the end of the stairs today, and went back upstairs to get something, and they came and landed on it to see what it was !!!!! cheeky little blighters ;)

Rel,

I wish the finches around my way are very skittish.
have only seen the double bars a few times. got a shot off once but for some reason managed to get it OOF think AF ran off on a blade of grass or something from memory.
accordingly I havent a decent shot of a double bar in my collection.

As you know, Narelle, finches are my favourite birds (hence my nickname since I was 9 and my Avatar). Great to see the Double-barred finches making themselves at home in your backyard.

Hope you are better soon

Cheers

Michael
