Very pleasant afternoon after a late start for me (working on my son's car  )

Great to meet some new faces and of course catch up with the regulars.

This was a lighting experiment where we tried a heap of combinations to try and find the nicest combo.

We had two Lightspheres (great having get togethers where everyone uses the same equipment) one on the SB800 (master) mounted on camera. The Lightsphere pointed straight up with the diffuser cap fitted. The SB600 (slave) mounted on Manfrotto flash bracket to the left also with lightsphere but angled at 45 degrees with no diffuser cap. Took another shot without the diffuser cap on the SB800 and it was rubbish. So next purchase will be the diffuser to fit on top of the Lightsphere (didn't even know such a thing existed 'till today)

What a location to play in, and it's great when there's a common brand among equipment...

That last one really grabbed me, sounds like you really setup the lighting well too, well done it worked a treat... Seems super sharp and good detail...

Terrific shots Mark!

That last one in particular is a rip snorter (do you know what sot of bug that is?)

Sorry I couldn't make it up there, working today for shots tomorrow.

That bug was about 3 millimetres, just to put things in context!!! We couldn't even find it for a while when Mark returned with lightsphere mods on the SB800 and 600 to photograph it. The image is startling in its clarity and this was on dusk as well, a key light had to be used to focus. Great to see the output on the screen Mark, you'll have to change your name to Macro.

Well done Mark - excellent captures. Although the second last one seems a little hot, you've nailed it on the final shot.

Great to see you're starting to use the Nikon Creative Lighting System and experimenting with set-ups. It's really paying off.

Thanks folks. It was terrific having a group of enthusiasts having input and suggestions when we were playing with the bug. We probably took 20 or 30 shots of the poor thing trying to decide which combo worked best.

Great fun and very beneficial process.

I guess that's the whole point of the mini meets. Catch up with some great people, have a bit of fun and learn something new :D

Great shots Mark.
All that effort with the lighting set up really paid off with the last shot in particular.

Was good to meet up with you guys and hope we can do it again soon
