Today I had the pleasure of being at the Saturday minimeet and once again savouring the delightful company and repast offered by mine hosts - Tran and Thanh.

Within five minutes I was hooked into buying the R1C1 (my SB800 was damaged last night in a fall).

This first pic was taken with the full set up using the Tamron 28-75mm:

The next pic was taken by Leek (John) using his Nikkor 105mm macro and the RIC1 on the D2Hs:

The next 3 were taken with the Tamron without the R1C1 and were taken in competition with Matt.K:

In the next week I hope to be able to compile a report on the very exciting R1C1.

Wow!!! They came out really well... (I didn't even notice the insect when I took that shot )

I think I know what's next on my shopping list... :-)

Hmmm, very nice food shots. Even the bug looks tasty.

BUt to ask the obvious.....what is an R1C1?

Steve - it's the new Macro ring flash system. Well, not really a ring flash, as there's only two flashes - it's a full system including the wireless commander, two small flashes (or is that flashi) and attachments for putting it all on the front of your lens.

Did anyone get a picture of this kit? It really was a pleasing sight :)

Seems so practical, and another example of fine Nikon engineering.

Nice bit of gear. I tossed up between a ring light and the SB800, before buying the SB800. I think that this is now right on the top of my list.

Sorry I missed out on this  I have been wanting to see this in use.

The lighting looks spot on and excellently exposed

As a kit, this is a most impressive set of gear.

And the results are impressive too; thanx for posting, Chris.
