The Harsh Unforgiving cool of the Sun.

This is a bit of a departure for me, but I really liked the result as the first time I ever shot into the sun. When I saw the result on the back of my camera it was exactly as I had imagined. There's something about the way the sun blankets the snow, keeps me coming back somehow. I did a considerable amount of cloning in the sun to get rid of some weirdness.

F13
1/8000th
iso 400 (My brother left it in 400 and I hadn't noticed at this point).

Critique and comments please.

That is awesome looks like the moon, but be careful with pointing your lens directly into the sun, unless you using welders glass or something to that sort for this shot, the heat build up can be very damaging, But very nice picture!

I love this. Very minimalist, but it works as an interesting combination of light and texture. My only criticism is there's a bit of an odd variation in the texture of the snow along the bottom, about a third of the way from the RHS, where it looks as though you've cloned something out? It's a little distracting for me.

Nice shot.

great shot - makes me want to get my hands on my friends astronomical filters for sun gazing. It's stupidly a expensive ultra thin film to buy, blocks out 99% of the light but it's pure neutral - cant recall the name of it.

Love to see this ISO100 (D2X) at f22 or higher and a slower exposure but even as it is, the detail rocks :)

did you have to clone out where the highlight of the sun reflected off the sensor and then bounced to the rear lens element and then back onto the sensor? That smoother section looks like it's been cloned.

Great shot. I agree looks like a shot taken from the moon or some other planet. B&W really makes this a fantastic shot.

I'm not entirely sure what that smudge is.

I tried to clone it out, but I couldn't get PS to cooperate. I was told to maybe try the patch tool or something, but all I got was more smudging. Really weird.

Thanks for the comments all. I'm sort of drawn to this one.
