Big Ears and the Damsel

Well they are probably not really ears but a little poetic license never hurt anyone

Very patient he was too. Didn't move while I went and grabbed the extension tubes to get in closer. All 3 tubes used for this shot.

Mark

Those first two are corkers. And AFAIK they are kinda ears since I think they pick up air vibrations.

And PS You have mail

Very nice shots Mark. Look forward to seeing some of the bug you scared on Saturday.

Great shots Mark ..... mmmmm...... Damo - do you think I could order..... LOL

They aren't actually ears guys :) .. more like a 'nose'. This is a male moth, and the feathery antennae are used to pick up pheromones of 'receptive' females that are ready to mate. The antennae have hightly developed species specific chemical receptors. Ain't nature grand !!!!

Mark,
Nice series of macro shots, yet again. I especially like the first one. The sharpness, composition and colours are just great.

Cheers
