Was trying to get closer to some water birds when this 4WD came roaring through...... first day out with the 70-200VR. Not pleased with the results when using in "A" mode, shutter speed seems way high. Will try my usual practice of "M" and dial in aperture and s/speed as required.

Andy,

Because of the focal length of the lens, the camera's metering systems are set up to target higher shutter speeds to reduce the likelihood of camera shake.

Oneputt,

Yes, definately freshwater, approximately 60Ks from Marble Bar :D , while stopped there I saw three out of the five vehicles that crossed doing so at "car wash" speeds, this is immediately after highway speeds!

Gary, thanks, had not thought of that. Would account for my landscape shots being "off". Though, like a kid with a new toy kept the 70-200VR on all day :)

Waiting for the Tokina 12-24 to arrive!
