This was kind of an informal lens test that went awry. I have a Nikkor 180/2.8 and 105/2DC that I don't use often so I decided to use them today. Here is an image from each lens. They are a bit noisy as I shot these at ISO 800 on D1x bodies and in jpg rather than raw (by mistake). Still I think they show the capabilities of the lenses fairly well. I used three Nikkors, the AF-S 300 f4 with a TC-17e II, an AF 180 f2.8 ED-IF, and an AF 105 f2DC ED-IF. No crops, no corrections of any kind, and no sharpening. These are full frame so I know the composition could be better in some cases.

Hi Mike.

The images are a little small for me to get a real feel for them. Having said that, and taking into account your comments about framing, sharpening and composition, I think the flamingo shot is the standout. I like the way it's shot at eye-level rather than looking downwards, which, for me, detracts from the appeal of the second shot, a teal(?) Also, the other duck in the background is distracting but of course that would be the first thing to go if you cropped so it's no big deal.

The last shot doesn't do a lot for me, I think due to the image size - it'd be nice to see the bird's eye and the overall detail doesn't keep up with the first two. Just my thoughts. :)

Yes they are small. I should have left the medium.jpg off them. On PBase they are full size or can be set to full size and the exif is there too.
