Night Street
Another picture that I thought I would share. I really enjoy night photography, but I don't do nearly enough of it. It's great to get into the city really, but something about walking around downtown Vancouver with a few thosand dollars worth of equipment hanging around my neck usually turns me off.
Anyway, everything I did in this picture was intentional. It is overexposed by 4 stops, which is an effect I really like. I used daylight white balance to change the overall colour, especially from the street lights. This was a 2 second exposure at f4.5. My main critique of it is that the horizon isn't quite level. Thoughts?  Nikon D70

Apparantly this was intentional. But I think it may be a bit overdone. I still think it looks great though.
It's a shame there's a dirty great big MacDonald's logo on the right hand side (apologies to Big Mac fans). But I like the street scene that you've captured.
Stealth, perhaps you could explain why you like the overexposure and what it adds to the original image? Nikon D70s, Nikkor 18-70, Sigma 70-300DG APO

That is the original image as the camera captured. I purposely over-exposed the image simply because I like the effect. It brings sort of a bright daylight feel to a night scene. I understand that it's really a matter of taste. Some people will look at it and just see it as overexposed, but I just like it.
I could photoshop out the MacDonalds and put in a Starbucks if that would look better  Nikon D70

Don't mind the overexposure, looks a little surreal.

That's exactly how I feel about it. The blown out lights, night almost becoming day... surreal.

I dig night shots. I've never been to Van., B.C. It looks very welcoming. Wouldn't it be cool if we all posted a night shot of the downtown area near where we live? As soon as it stops raining I'll get one from Spanish Fork, Utah and post it.

Thoughts? I like the effect you have with this shot  as far as the horizon it looks fine to me as the buildings and other features all seem to be very near vertical and gives the sense that the street is slanted or falls away ( Im no expert ) the thing I think of is that not everything is built flat and level. I think it just adds to the whole picture and its appeal to me.  More fishing, more sport, more photo's Pentax 1stds

for my tastes I think it is a little to over exposed, you loose quite a bit of the detail in the well lit areas which your eye is drawn to. btw is that Granville in the shot?
