If I can be brutal, I think the sunset shot is boring (and I should know, my HD is full of boring sunset shots ). I really think that a sunset needs other elements to hold the viewers attention.

However, I do like the second image. The muted colour is excellent, and the way the kites are arranged in the frame makes a very good composition. The only negative with this shot is that I can see some halo effects around the kites which may be the result of oversharpening.
