I wanted a portrait shot as an avatar.
I have been going to add one for ages.
anyhow whilst waiting for some work to roll in I was going thru some older shots.
Didnt post this kooka shot before. I quite liked it because the feathers sort of look watercoloured
wonder how it looks as an avatar??
by all means comment on the kooka also!!

I was sitting quietly just hoping it would start working and it did, but at first I was a bit dissapointed by the little red X.

It's still there on the .com site.
And I did see it on the .net site about 10 mins ago.

I can see it on .com now, but I don't have access to .net to check there.

I was sitting here quietly commenting on a few posts and I initially didnt notice that it was gone,

flash score from the colluseum:
seems like if I edit my profile from the .net site the avatar is visible on the .net site but not .com site.
and
if I edit it on .com site seems to be visible on .com site but not .net site.
any idea how I gane get it to work on both??

Steve.
I believe how it works is since the .com site is a mirror of the .net site (and I guess vice a versa) that you have to let the file replicate to the other site. I think this isn't done super regularly like maybe once a day or something (Leigh and Gary have mentioned it before). So if you do it on one, and wait long enough, it should update the other.
Make sense ?

I had the same problem ages ago. It sorted itself out somehow.
Yeah, what Craig said.

I'm not that mean (yet). Like Craig said it all has to do with the copying of stuff between the 2 domains. Until a wiser head (well Leigh and/or Gary) come along, my recollection is that you should do the avatar stuff on .com and wait for it to ripple to .net.
BTW - is the avatar your SP Steve

I was actually waiting for the SP comment.
nope. aint me.
probably smarter than me too.
I currently have the avatar on the .net site
I will wait a while and see if it goes to the .com site
if someone tells me I have to do it the other way I will do that although stubbsy's memory will probably be correct.

As Peter says, it's because we're running two sites, the avatars need to be synchronised, and that does not happen in real time.
Please look at
this thread, noting in particular my January 18 post.
I'll do a manual synch of the domains later today, just for you.

Hi Steve,
I just saw the original kooka photo and the eyes are sharp. Unfortunately, due to the tiny avatar, you do lose that sharpness.
Still, an apt avatar, especially for a bird photographer like yourself.
Cheers
