more shots from grand prix weekend at melbourne.

it was hard for me to shoot at grand prix maybe i because i dont know how to use my d200 or
a) focusing issues because i had a big fence right in front of me
b) had to anticipate that the car was about coming out of the last corner
c) d200 with 70-200 and people all around me, as i was in the second row from front and shooting from my chair most of the time. some people were not too happy with me :(

anyone from here at grand prix in senna stand? i saw quite a few people in my stand with canon and nikon dslr’s. next time im going for top row in different stand :D

rant off!

Nothing wroing with those images.

As for the fence, the closer you can get to it, the better, because you can make it disappear.

hi

i really like the first one, it could have been better if the helmet was more in the frame.

could i ask how close to the track where you? did you have a especial pass? where you steated with all the other photographers or just the crowd?

thanks for sharing

the first one was shot from the empty space between two stands. i was standing there for cars to lineup for the race. i wish i was with the pros :D
im just a beginner...

i was sitting with the crowd in senna stand (section c). and that's where i shot remaining 3. the lens i was using was 700-200 vr.

nice shots, i wish i was there for the event

you need to get yourself a 1.7tc, and if you go next year, go for a wander around the back of the circuit, few good spots around

Mate, as Gary said nothing from with those pictures. Are they the full image?

Back yonder in 2000 I was at the Clark stand (i think turn 9) and that was a pretty good area. After this years race I am motivated to go back to Melbourne next year...and your pics have just added to that motivation...thanks :D :D :D

no, they have been croppped from the orginal shots.

im going again next yr for sure even though i might be working overseas. i'll have to make sure i get a right stand and seats right in the top row. and hopefully by next yr i would know what im doing with my d200 :)

thanks

Wow :)

Would be interested to know how cropped (if any) these are, but even if they are heavy crops, they've come up real nice :)

If you can get the helmet shot blown up to a decent size then it's a ripper - well done!

thanks all for the feedback! really appreciate it

all images have been cropped to accentuate the cars. im new to photography, just got my d200 last month but ive been using photoshop since ver 3 (I think I started with 2.8.3). im web designer by profession and i use photshop at work along with other tools. i think I got decent skills with photoshop and i can manipulate most images.

sorry for posting soo any images.
let me know if you'd like me post smilar images for one with schumi helmet.

this the view from my seat at 200mm using 70-200 vr. i focused on fosters logo as reference and moved my lens to the centre of the track. as I couldn’t see the car coming my only cue was the sound of car approaching the last corner but it wasn’t like that always because it could pit or go in the last corner to compete the lap

after post processing in photoshop. probably under 5 minutes. the image was shot in raw but the correction i made could have been easily done in jpeg as well.

100% crop – very noisy d200. most likely my fault?
Image btw new ferrari colour is orangish-red

looking forward to your comments/suggestions.

thanks
