OK! All you bird experts.
I like photographing birds but know little about them.
Can anyone tell me what this one is?
Also any feedback on the shot is welcomed.

Pied (or possibly little pied) Cormorant I'd say, according to my trusty bird book.

Hi Bob
I'm fairly sure it's a White Faced Heron... no expert but I came across some of these guys myself a while back and did some research.
Hope this helps.
cheers

It's a brown-bellied sap-sucker.

Bob,
according to my good wife's birdy book it is a 'White Faced Heron'
Ardea novaehollandiae.
Habitat pasture, farm dams, parkland, most wetlands including intertidal flats. Often perches on trees and posts. Found pretty much Australia wide except the Gibson? desert. Has a harsh croaking voice.
Nice capture
BTW

Thanks everybody " a white faced heron it is then".
It was hanging about on the banks of the river at noosaville.
I was able to get quite close to it and it seemed unperturbed by my presence.
