Who is looking at who?

Last September I went up to Hervey Bay for the Whale Watching.
Well worth the trip - the captain of the boat said the bay was 'whale soup' and it was the best day he had seen that year.
Each year gets better as the whale numbers are on the increase.
I was surprised how close they come to the boats. Restrictions are placed on boats approching whales, but the whales haven't read the regulations and, out of curiosity, they come quite close to the boat.
It surprised me that I was reaching for the wide angle zooms more than the telephoto end. Although this shot (with my old D70) was high ISO and telephoto. Please excuse the noise.
