The hand

Not to everyone's taste

and it sure won't make POTW! I was experimenting with shallow DOF with my 5D plus my fastest lens - 135 f/2 and found my subject lying down having a snooze in one of the best spots to take snaps - Circular Quay!
Comments and critique welcome as always.
Cheers

Sheila,
I think that people a re either going to love or hate this one. I looked at it for ages and it definately grew on me.
I think it was the technical excellence that had me in awe as much as the composition. The way that you got the focus point so spot on and the balance.
It is also a great advert for the lens super duper sharp.
I am glad that my fingers don't look like that too - ooouch!

Sheila,
I like it!
In one small shot you tell the story of the man of that hand bing that he is older and has a hard life.
Congrats

Thanks Ree and Steve. I have a thing about hands at the moment -

Here's one I took of same subject, same bench, different day - with my Zigview. I desaturated the image a tad and I quite like the affect.

Nice second shot, tells more of a story if you let the mind wander instead

I think the hand is a rather strong image....and the boke! Just beautiful!

Thanks all. With the "boke/bokeh", no Gaussian blue in
PS was involved - just the natural bokeh with this superb lens. I did use a filter from Optikvervelabs which helped with the "look" of the first image.

The first one especially is fantastic. Enviable low DOF, and creamaliciousness.

Wonderful stuff Sheila, I've got to hand it to you...

No seriously, these are seriously good candid portraits and yes, they do grow on you. Max

I really like this , the B&W and the contrast makes this image even more powerful, i cant help but to notice the cut or somethin on his hand, that is wide open,.

Very compelling image, the use of very narrow DOF and the BW works a treat... Takes a creative eye to get an image like this, very well done...

Technically the photos are great.
I still have to make up my mind about your candids though. Do you do them 'sneakily' or do you seek permission?
