Big V - I especially like shot #1. Looks like you had great weather for a trip like that.

Now when are you going to buy the Canon 600mm f/4 so you can get closer  BTW: how is Marvin :?:

600 f4 is on special at qualitycameradirect, reduced from 18 grand down to 13 grand...do you have 12,999 to lend me?

Big V - Sorry, but I can not help out. My photography bank account balance is at zero. Suggest you buy a ticket in x-lotto. Should you win purchase the lens and a EOS 30D.

You're not getting the lizard perspective. This thing was huge and about 20 metres up a huge tree! It was a good day. We scared lots of birds trying to get close to them!

Marvin, you have to post the pic of the whole tree with the lizard at the top as you had the wide lens...

You can pick up the 600mm f4's over here for a measley $11,500AUD... somebody's just got to wire me the money and I'll bring it back with me... packaging in tact of course

Spotted one on display in the local photoshop (Ace Photo in Sterling VA), had a look down the barrel with a D70s... sweeeeeeeeet !

OK. Here 'tis.

As I only have crappy dial up you can hopefully still see the little bit of the lizard that Big V took. It's highlighted with my beautiful "paint" circle. Our boat came up to about a quarter of the bottom tree shadow.

Yes I'd agree with that. The prices here after state tax and dollar conversions are within $50-70 of Birdy's prices, but its the 5 year warranty here that floors me. Speaking with one of the guys from Ace Photo they tell me the 5yr warranty is a US thing to combat grey imports. I'm lucky my company is not far from Ace so I'm set for any potential warranty issues (not likely).

Anyway I've certainly added to my camera bag whilst here... umm I should say replaced my camera bag and added bits over here. There is not much difference on bodies but lenses and accessories we are being cained in Oz.

I fell in love with the 600mm f/4 that is really sexy... did I mention is big ! Oh I should mention that I saw one of these on the weekend mounted in the drivers window of a van, it was on a gimble mount with some form of flash hanging above. My guess is a bird photographer but he was driving around the place with that sucker cocked and loaded. Amazing !

John, what I could do is take a holiday over there and buy it. The money I save pays for the holiday - now there is a thought!!! Now by juggling some finances around, 600f4 and a 1Dmk2n...you will have a competitor for the motor sports!!
