It is a while since I posted and have obviously been away too long as I have just been advised by Macka, Pixspot does not seem to be working. Have now signed up to flikr. Hope this now works. Picture taken last weekend at Wynnum, Brisbane.

That's got it.
The boat and the dog make this picture! They've added a point of interest, while the tree provides a natural frame.

nice image.
like the framing overhead by the leaves.
not sure about the part tree trunk on lhs though.
not sure if it wouldnt be stronger without it there. (or perhaps with a little more trunk)
Bw treatment works well also

Thanks for the comments.
Steve. The trunk on the LHS was a bit of a dilema, to crop it out completely meant removing the boat on the LHS also. leaving more of the trunk overpowered the image for me.

Very nice composition but I think you should leave the tree trunk for nice framing this photo. Sometimes photos don't need well balanced for good perception!
Great job - good eye!

I really like the shot Geoff but feel the tree trunk should go. The boat at the rear adds nothing to the scene and wouldn't be missed. The single remaining boat is far more interesting.

Thanks for the comments. Here is a version with the tree trunk removed.

I thought that too originally Bernie but if you line it up, the path is actually level.

Big Pix,
I agree the horizon appears not to be level, the footpath is on the level. The reason for this is that the shore line of the island (Moreton Bay) is a greater distance from the mainland at the LHS than at the RHS.
Here is another version rotated 1.5 degrees.

This one is much better as I am also looking at the lamp post, in the background, on the RHS

Last one does it for me Geogg lovely image for all the reasons above. Horizon adjustment much better. I would add that I think the inclusion of a more noticeable slice of the tree trunk, still without that distractins boat in the middle left edge, may have helped frame the image of the walkers and the solitary boat but then I would have wanted the walkers closer to the tree entering the scene a little more. A lovely image all the same
cheers

I wonder of those people know what a ruckus they've caused....

I like the last version, without the trunk, and with the horizon adjustment ....
and do they know they are causing a ruckus????? Of course they do, that's why they walk at an ungodly time of the morning

the seat and spit are annoying distractions.
I find the shot just a bit disjointed.
Good but not great.
cheers doug
