Yacht fire Moreton BayThe Koara, a 19mtr pleasure Yacht, caught fire today. The crew noticed smoke and within a few minutes had to abandon ship. With the tender also involved in fire an inflatable raft had to be deployed. Crews from 26 (Redcliffe) and 14 (Sandgate) stations responded and proceeded on a Bribie Island VMR vessel with foam, meeting up with various police vessels. Crews fought the fire in 2 meter high seas for over 3 hours and towed the vessel back to Scarborough marina to be finally extinguished.
