Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Having basicly daylight lenses at this time, I have tried a few different things at times with night shots. These shots are all handheld and I have had very different responses from people who have seen them
The 1st and 2nd are both taken with istds iso400 28mm-90mm 3.5-5.6 lens
this one is 34mm 1/30sec shutter speed.
This one is 90mm 1/45sec shutter speed.
This last one is a scan of a film shot I took on my Z10 with iso400 fuji film 100mm-300mm 4.5-6.7 lens.
focal was 300mm shutterspeed set to 8 (whatever that equates to) and hand held.
It is a photo of the pitcher.
So what do you consider them as, Action or Art and how can I improve these sorts of shots?
Brett

My preference would be the first one - at least you can still see the player
IMHO, the second one is too underexposed - maybe try increase the brightness a tad.
3rd pic - wasn't sure whether it was a rodeo clown or a pitcher (as you said) I was looking at.

The first one is pretty good, I'd crop tighter - perhaps even go portrait on it to emphasise him and the ball. I ought to try that effect because the ball just there in focus and sharp is a nice effect.

Yes the 3rd one has been called a few different things, so I will now add rodeo clown to the list, I just like the comments these sort of photos bring. People either love them or hate but they keep looking at them, that is how they grew on me anyway.
