The Koara, a 19mtr pleasure Yacht, caught fire today. The crew noticed smoke and within a few minutes had to abandon ship. With the tender also involved in fire an inflatable raft had to be deployed. Crews from 26 (Redcliffe) and 14 (Sandgate) stations responded and proceeded on a Bribie Island VMR vessel with foam, meeting up with various police vessels. Crews fought the fire in 2 meter high seas for over 3 hours and towed the vessel back to Scarborough marina to be finally extinguished.

Great photos as usual, Mark. The one with the fire close up is my pick.

thanks Alex....

yeh.. it has a mind of it's own.. scary sometimes.

i had a lot of fun at this incident today... had to jump from a coastguard vessel onto a large police vessel with 2m swells whilst moving and with all the camera gear.... makes you think about your insurance policy :)

cheers

PJ’ing with your usual finesse Mark - a question, surely the yacht is larger than 19 feet :?:
