I recall awhile back, this forum said they like ducks (and less controversial post!!). This is a Pacific Black Duck which, amongst others, has taken up residence in our garden which is handy to our neighbour's pool and a supply of parrot food from us :)

We believe this is one of the baby ducks (which family started out at three ducklings and ended up as two - which is a good percentage!) which we nurtured along with the very good mother duck a few months back.

Beautiful shot. :) I love the smooth background.

The exif says it was taken at 420mm. Which lens was this?

From the EXIF data I'd guess a 300mm/4 plus a 1.4x TC.

Sheila, what's the big yellow thing (reflected in the bird's eye and giving the bird a strong yellow colouring)?

Sheila,

Nice DOF and the photo is incredibly sharp.

Great lens and credit to your technique.

Cheers

Yes, it was my 300 plus 1.4 TC. The reflection is possibly the sun on the grass in front of the duck but that's just a guess.
