butcher bird

took this shot this morning,it is a butcher bird of sorts,can anyone tell me its correct name please.

Great moment, id like it a bit more if the main subject was more separated from the background. But Great Moment, shows the birds wings!

a tad dark.
butcher birds are always great for a laugh, watching people duck and run from them. bastards if they get you though.

Hey Pa - it's an immature grey butcherbird. You can distinguish the grey from the pied as it doesn't have a 'bib', the colouration which extends down from the head onto the chest. This bird has a uniformly grey chest, suggesting its a grey

(Cracticus torquatus)
They have the most beautiful singing voice

thanks to wmaburnett,teh,blacknstormyand agriffiths. theres 2 of them that have been coming to our place for a couple of weeks. i thought they were a pair. i think the flash beam may have frightened it hence the pose

looks like a grey butcher bird.
we get a few of those around here.
I like them.
Shame with the dark backbround though.

yes steve blacknstormy said it was a grey butcher bird. it was about 6.15 am when i took it ,behind it, about 6 mtrs away is a tree, thats what made it dark.
