First attempt at sunsets

Well i went for a walk down to pine island tonight in an attempt to take some sunset shots. these are the results

You did well.

I believe that Stubbsy or someone else suggested to include a subject
in the front additional to the sunset.
People, abandoned car whatever ...
I think that person is right.

Great first effort Thommo.

I'd be looking to try to squeeze out a little more detail in the shadow areas while masking the effect in the sky - it's gorgeous the way it is in both shots. Hard to be sure but it looks like the horizon may be just slightly tilted down on the left in the second shot.

I agree with Christian's comments about including something to give it scale. Where's that fisherman in his little boat or that solitary heron stalking prey when you need them!
