What can I say. This one, thankfully, lacks the canvas treatment that I didn't like in your other two recent posts (owls & lily), but this image is not of your usual standard. Compositionally it's a little cramped and it just lacks overall punch. I think the bloody thing should have looked at the camera and then you may have had a keeper. Sorry for being so harsh, but I know you can take it.

Not sure why, but the owl looks like it's pretending to be a penguin

The owl reminds me of a Muppet, it also interests me Matt the vastly different reactions we have to certain images. I can see why you like this shot, but I can also see why Stubbsy would not. For me the eyes make this shot.

Matt,
It looked so sad for being locked in the cage.
A poster size print will be good for the means of human right!.

That is the weirdest looking bird I think I've ever seen. I reckon he put his little brother's head on by mistake this morning...

That is an amazing image! The expression on the birds face looks just like my husband when he's really p'd off.

Matt,
This majestic bird is the Powerful Owl and they are found in the forest only a 10+ minute drive from where I live. In fact, Samford is known as "The home of the Powerful Owl". These delightful birds shouldn't be caged in small aviaries - its a crime, really. I've had the pleasure of seeing them in the wild at night and they are just magnificent.
Cheers
Michael

Thanks for that information. I entirely agree with you...in fact I have just made an A3 print of the image and it is both sad and beautiful. To see one in the wild would be quite an experience.

Weird is an understatement ! I am drawn to the shot but I hate animals in cages, the eyes say it all for me.
Great photo, but I could not live with it on my wall if you know what I mean.

Matt,
I keep coming back to this image just to stare into these eyes.

And then I start to laugh. For some reason this photo has me in absolute histerics every time I look at it. My family think I have gone mad.
The comments as well get me going, Little brothers head, trying to be a penguin
