G'day all,

Just got back after a few days at Cradle Mountain in Tasmania... Weather was foul for the first couple of days (thermal undies are a god send!) but day #3 was absolutely stunning! Had a ball at another Tom Putt workshop, no afilliation but can't recommend them highly enough...

Didn't get home until late last night, had a sleep-in ahhh, that's better :)

Anyway, this one's a quickie (PP took about 10-15 mins) as I'm about to go out and play but just wanted to post one quickie for your critique, would appreciate your thoughts... I'll post a few later on...

Hmmm, seems a slight halo around the mountain edge in this little jpeg...

EXIF: D70, 12-24@14mm, F11, manual exp 1.3 seconds, ISO200, Circ polariser, two merged images

Mudder this is a beautiful shot. I love it and my wife will love it when I show her. This is possibly the best shot I've seen of cradle mountain.

Wooooowwwww,

Frame this one :-)

Looking forward to your other posts.

Cheers,

Andrew, that crappy old D70 of yours clearly needs replacing  Get yourself a 5D or D200 now!

Beautiful.

Andrew, cracker shot of a magnificent part of God's creation. Have done the Cradle Mt-Lake StClair walk three times (last time in 1984), had snow in mid summer each time and froze to death, but the frostbite is worth every amputation for the spectacular view.

I would love a print of your photo, as would anyone who loves Tassie.

Cheers,

Max

Gorgeous stuff! I'm sure if you sepnt long then 10 minutes on the PP you could bring it out even more. Love the sky and the reflections, I'd just like a little smigen more detail in the shadows of the mountain, top stuff!

Thanks for the comments all, I'll post a couple more in a tick...

Andre, these workshops are starting to book up pretty quick and well in advance these days mate, let me know if you're interested in any of the workshops, would be great to have you there... :)

Glen, I'm in shopping mode at the moment, had just a very quick play with the 5D, oh, hubba hubba.... The person who had it, also had a gorgeous film pano and a 5x4 and hardly used their 5D, I just about cried...

Max, Going back in late spring, I'm already salivating at the tought of going back... I wanted to stay an extra day (the last day was gonna be a cracker of a sunset) but had to come back to get ready for work, sigh...

An exceptional image Andrew. The vivid colour, the composition, the perspective and how the individual elements just hang together perfectly. The light patch on cradle mountain peak and its glorious reflection is just superb and beautifully balanced by the hut and its gorgeous reflection. A real 'frame that sucker' image. May I suggest a natural stressed wooden frame. I can't stop looking at it :) Andrew this image is most definitely in the 'I would crawl across broken glass just to get a shot like that' category  :) IMO this is a contender for POTW :)
cheers

Sigh, just stunning !!!!

But don't dismiss what the D70 has done ..... and with such a superb photo, would it be any different with another camera? :?:
Remember - it is not the camera but the photographer that makes the shot !!!!

Congrats

Hi Andrew.

Wow! Fantastic picture there. I think you have slight over sharpened the image resulting in the halo effect.

regards,

Arthur
