Hi guys. I'm putting this up for review now that I can. I got quite a few low votes so I'm just wondering whether this was because of the love/hate issue with cats or whether there are some suggestions about how to improve the photo.

Some info about how I got the background black is here,

Cheers,
Owen.

Owen, I gave this my top score (5), more because of the technical merit of the image, I can take or leave cats. Getting a low score is not a negative, no vote at all is a negative with the new system. I like the image a lot.

Thanks Glen. I didn't mean to imply I wasn't satisfied with the lower votes, I just thought it might be an indication of some improvements that could be made to the image. Hence why I am now here :)

Cheers,
Owen. :)

Edit: thanks also for the vote :)

Hi, I'm new to the site so didn't see the comp. For my tastes I'd like a bit more light on the cat, however I know that's a trade on the mood of the image too. Also, if you could move the cat to the right a bit and open up a bit of negative space on the left I think that would be good.

Thanks mate. I will do a recrop later tonight and see how it turns out :)

Thanks for the comment.
Owen.

Owen I gave this my top vote too. I'd have liked a little more light, but then you'd have had problems with the background.

I didn't find anything wrong with this photo technically and it was in my top 3 votes.

For me, it was more subject matter as it didn't really interest me, the portrait held more interest for me.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'll try a recrop and also adjusting the curves again to try and make it a bit lighter.

Thanks again,
Owen.

What do you guys think, better? I gave him more vibrant eyes and a brighter nose too.

yeah, the colour and lighting looks good. I'd still like to see him moved over a bit, so he kinda looks into the space...

Thanks mate. I didn't want to cut off his whiskers, but I might add more black space over to the left.

Thanks again,
Owen.
