I went for a great photo walk last night. I got a little nervous as I was in some pretty down and out areas, but some cool things happened. First I caught this shot. My focus was off for some reason, I figure I must have bumped it off infinity.

Then I went walking to a skate park and saw some really cool things. It was built under a couple of overpasses so that the skater's would have shelter from the rain.

Then out of nowhere a couple of skaters showed up. They were really cool, and were excited about me snapping a few.

It got late so we decided to hook up in the morning again. I snapped this one I'm quite happy with.

Unfortunately my SB 800 was stolen and I had to use the on camera flash, which is a terrible combination super wide angles.

Could I please get some critique on the skate shots atleast? These are my first shots of that particular type, so I was really wondering what you guys thought.

Dave

The fist skate shot is good - nice angle and setup

Put you flash into rear curtain mode - makes the shadows and motion blur go the right way

Second skate shot - no real feeling of movement and I'm not fond of the sepia type treatment.

Thanks Pharmer. I found that the best way to put them in the frame was to pan along with them. I was using the onboard flash with a super wide angle lens, which made for difficult taking. i'll keep in mind the rear sync.

Also, I wasn't sure about the yellow, I thought it helped give it a sort of retro look, which is what the style of shot was.
