Aircraft @ Australia's first International Airport

We went sailing on Sydney Harbour today with forum member rog...

While we were in Rose Bay, one of the seaplanes took off very close to our yacht. Back in the 1930s, Rose Bay was the site of Australia's first international airport with regular visits from Sunderland and Catalina flying boats.

Yeah... Shame about the 1300 number on the side of the plane... :lol:

Interestingly, this is the second time that I've captured this particular plane...

A quality image. Lovely classical feel to it. Must have been a big boat you were on to confidently take your camera gear aboard.

good image.

the feel of this shot makes it look like it could have been shot in the 30s
probably the only place in sydney that you could have achieved this.

This is a fine image and the processing enhances the ambience nicely. Couldn't you just clone out the number?

Hmmm... Beaver floatplanes were built in 1947-1967, so I think the sepia treatment might be stretching it a bit!
